Still We Run was photographed at the 2025 World Masters Track & Field Championships in Gainesville, Florida. Athletes from all over the world traveled here to compete, with ages ranging from 35 to over 100. Watching them give everything they had was a powerful reminder that passion and drive don’t disappear with age.
One moment I’ll never forget was a 1500-meter race between an Irishman and a Spaniard, both in their eighties. For three laps, the Irishman hung back, calm and steady. Then on the final bank, he turned on the afterburners—lightning in old legs—and passed his rival as the crowd jumped to their feet.
Just like that, it was over. The two men slowed down, walking off the track like the elderly men they are—shoulders a little hunched, steps a little shaky. But for those four laps, they were fierce, fast, and free.
That’s what this was all about—capturing the spirit that never fades.
